ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Starting in 2024, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) will take over the Artistic Direction of the renowned Musikwoche Hitzacker for five years. Titled Aus Leidenschaft (With Passion), the festival's 38th edition will reflect the MCO's own passion for music and their wish to engage in an active dialogue with audiences and the festival itself.
The Brass players of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra have been performing together in varying formats for twelve years. They have performed as a quintet at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, and at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. As a group of ten (decet) they have appeared on stage in Berlin and Landshut.
For Musikwoche Hitzacker, they present Im Anfang schallt das Blech (Sound the Trumpet). This varied programme will showcase roughly four hundred years of musical history. Between the pieces, musicians from the MCO will read texts referring to this Musikwoche's general theme of "Leid und Leidenschaft" (suffering and passion)
