The Mahler Chamber Orchestra is very happy to announce its over three festival editions lasting concert cycle together with Artistic Partner Augustin Hadelich at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg in 2027-2029.
Upon the invitation of Rolando Villazón, Artistic Director of the Mozartwoche, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Augustin Hadelich have the wonderful opportunity to perform all the Mozart violin concertos at the Mozarteum and record them live. There are only a few truly live recordings of these concertos – this makes The Salzburg Recordings a rare and remarkable artistic statement.
This project captures the essence of what the MCO stands for – its long- established Mozart tradition, the spirit of deep artistic collaboration and the vibrant energy of play–lead performances. Hailed as one of today’s greatest violinists, Augustin Hadelich brings both dazzling virtuosity and profound musical insight into this project. He has expressed his joy of the collaboration says: “Working with the MCO has been immensely rewarding. From our first notes together last year in Salzburg, I was impressed and inspired by their sound and musicianship. Our artistic partnership will start with a cycle of Mozart’s violin concertos, and continue with several tours. It will be an inspiring collaboration!”
“The Mahler Chamber Orchestra celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027 and it feels very fitting to start the celebratory year with such a meaningful project that reflects also profoundly the orchestra’s strong relationship with Mozart. We are very grateful for Rolando Villazón and his team for the support in realizing this wonderful project, in close collaboration with the Stiftung Mozarteum.” says Liisa Ketomäki, Chief Executive Officer of the MCO. Throughout the residency, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra works in tight partnership with the Stiftung Mozarteum, aiming to bring some of the MCO educational and outreach projects to the city.
