After some years of absence, the partnership between the MCO and Mitsuko Uchida brings them back to Italy. The famous synergetic performances of Mozart's works for piano and orchestra, in combination with compositions from his contemporary colleagues will be the focus of this project. The tour will commence in Rotterdam and culminate in Ferrara, a location of great significance to the MCO due to its historical ties dating back to the orchestra's founding twenty-five years ago.
The program for this tour will feature renowned compositions by Mozart, including his Piano Concerto No. 17 and Piano Concerto No. 22. These celebrated pieces, well-known for their artistic brilliance and emotive depth, will be showcased in all their grandeur during the performances.
In addition to Mozart's masterpieces, the tour will also feature the Chorale Quartet by Jörg Widmann, a composition skillfully interwoven into the fabric of the program. This captivating quartet will add a distinct touch to the musical journey and provide the audience with the unique and enriching experience of seeing an orchestra perform without a conductor, relying fully on their capabilities of hearing and communicating through their instruments.
