Join us for opening concert of the festival celebration for
Neumarkter Konzertfreunde, who have been bringing international artists
to this Bavarian town for forty years.
The MCO has been performing there since 2007, and has appeared with Steven Isserlis, Artistic Partner Leif Ove Andsnes and Isabelle Faust. Now we return to mark the occasion with the celebrated violinist Alina Ibragimova, who makes her MCO debut as the soloist in Beethoven's violin concerto.
Framing this work are two pieces that bring drama to the festivities: Beethoven's Consecration of the House overture, written for
the opening of the newly renovated Josefstadt Theatre in Vienna, and
Brahms's second serenade, five movements brimming with the energy of a
young composer finding his distinctive voice within the orchestra.
This concert is supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of BTHVN 2020.
