ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Under the baton of our Conductor Laureate Daniel Harding and featuring renowned pianist Daniil Trifonov, the MCO embarks on a late summer tour. The repertoire for this tour includes Schumann's Piano Concerto, his Manfred Overture as well as Brahms' Symphony No. 3.
The Piano Concerto in A Minor by Schumann is a beloved work of the Romantic period. It features the solo piano prominently throughout, showcasing the virtuosic skills of Daniil Trifonov. The concerto's lyrical melodies, the harmonious interplay between the soloist and orchestra, and the breathtaking cadenzas make it a memorable experience for any audience.
The tour culminates with Brahms' Symphony No. 3, a work known for its rich harmonies and intricate orchestration. The symphony's third movement is especially famous for its beautifully haunting melody played by the French horn. The symphony's finale is triumphant and uplifting, leaving the audience with a sense of awe and wonder.
Daniil Trifonov, one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation and Artiste Étoile at the Lucerne Festival this summer, is a virtuoso whose performances are known for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. We're thrilled to embark on this tour accompanied by these partners.
This performance serves as the opening concert of the Südtirol Festival in Merano.
