ABOUT THIS CONCERT
In this matinee concert at the Schlossfestspiele Ludwigsburg, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra shows its strengths in the chamber music repertoire.
The program pairs off two composers who share an ill fate, as they both only reached the age of 35: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Claude Vivier. The bright and joyful tones of the Sonata for bassoon and cello are contrasted by the melanchocil spirit of Vivier's writing. This perfectly leads to Mozart's String quintet, with its rather sombre, emotional undertone.
