ABOUT THIS CONCERT
This concert features a new composition by leading American composer Michael Hersch. Known for his ability to communicate emotion with uncompromising truthfulness in his works, I hope we get a chance to visit soon is described by the composer as a dramatic narrative for two sopranos and eight instrumentalists. The piece, premiered in Ojai on June 8th, has its second performance in Berkeley.
American conductor Tito Muñoz, Music Director of the Phoenix Symphony, will lead Mahler Chamber Orchestra musicians with sopranos Ah Young Hong & Kiera Duffy, pianist Amy Yang, and alto saxophonist Gary Louis in the chamber work I hope we get a chance to visit soon. Additional compositions by Michael Hersch for solo saxophone and solo piano complete the programme.
