Debut

September 2016

With this concert, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra joins the celebrations for the Kölner Philharmonie’s 30th anniversary, in its birthday month of September. This all-Brahms programme brings together two exciting young artists, conductor Rafael Payare and pianist Denis Kozhukhin, who – while having worked together before – will each be performing with the MCO for the first time.

The Kölner Philharmonie has been a close partner of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra since its early years, not least through the orchestra’s former North Rhine-Westphalia residency and the annual MCO Academy. The MCO’s most recent concert at the Kölner Philharmonie was a concert in June with its Conductor Laureate Daniel Harding and trumpet player Håkan Hardenberger, with works by Beethoven, Turnage and Varèse.
