This isn't just a front-row seat; it's an invitation to walk through the music, to listen from the perspective of a musician, and to join with the sound.

We are pleased to announce the release of our application for Apple’s new spatial computing device, the Vision Pro. This application, called “Mahler Chamber Orchestra”, offers a transformative way to experience orchestral music, breaking down traditional barriers and bringing users closer to the music than ever before.

Through the Apple Vision Pro users can explore and interact with real and virtual 3D environments. The MCO app offers a unique experience where users can move freely within the virtual space, observing and feeling the music from amongst musicians. This isn't just a front-row seat; it's an invitation to walk through the music, to listen from the perspective of a musician, and to join with the sound.

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra App features a series of 6DOF spatial audio recordings that were created in collaboration with our Artistic Partner for Immersive Experiences, Henrik Oppermann/Schallgeber. The recordings involve the listener physically, mentally and socially in the process of music making.

This is not only listening, but also creating. MCO violinist and collaborator of the MCO App, Timothy Summers says: “To listen is not just to experience, but to investigate.”  The first release of the App includes solo and duo performances by MCO musicians and collaborators, including: concertmaster Matthew Truscott; violinists Timothy Summers, Anna Matz, and Alexandra Preucil; violists Antoine Tamestit, Joel Hunter, and Florent Bremond; cellist Stefan Faludi; and oboist Mizuho Yoshii. This release features works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Béla Bartók, and Georg Philipp Telemann.

Playing in an orchestra is an immersive experience, and now, with spatial computing technology, we can share this experience further.
