Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) and Orchesterzentrum|NRW are pleased to announce the launch of their first Chamber Music and Leading Mentoring Programme, designed specifically for MCO Academy alumni from North Rhine-Westphalia.
This inaugural edition will focus on string players, offering a unique opportunity for artistic development and leadership growth. Over the course of five days, participants will receive guidance and mentoring from five MCO musicians, all of whom bring significant experience in leadership roles within orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
Programme highlights include chamber music and ensemble playing, individual training and mentoring, leadership development, interactive talks and discussion formats on matters such as breathing, listening, affect, texture, conflict. A performance showcasing the work developed during the programme will round off the workshop period.
Whereas most music study programmes offer intensive instrumental training, they often neglect the qualifications essential for good leadership. This initiative reflects MCO and Orchesterzentrum|NRW’s shared commitment to supporting the next generation of orchestral leaders and fostering a vibrant culture of collaboration in an increasingly complex sector.
