ABOUT THIS CONCERT
Three days in Spain, three great MCO concerts with conductor Jakub Hrůša. To complete the
Spanish Summer Part I tour, the orchestra travels to Santander, participating in the illustrious Festival Internacional de Santander. In this programme, South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho, winner of the XVII International Chopin Piano competition (2015), will perform the Chopin Piano Concerto no. 1 in E-minor, op. 11 with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The programme begins with the haunting
Hebrides Overture of Mendelssohn, and concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony no. 4 in B-flat major, op. 60. This graceful symphony, composed in 1806, remains true to the Viennese classical school, even as its influence had begun to fade. This symphony also affords the audience many delightful moments from the MCO solo winds.
