Interview
If you could play another instrument what would it be?

I dream about playing double bass one day!

The first piece of music you fell in love with?

In terms of classical music: the 2nd movement of Ravel’s piano concerto in G major. In terms of other music: Bill Evans – Turn out the stars

What would you do if you wouldn't work in the music industry?

I can not imagine not working in the musical field! However, if I wasn’t, I think I was an artist or would curate exhibitions.

Which are your Desert Island Discs?

It is so hard to choose! But I think I would take Petter Eldh’s Koma West and something to sing along with, like Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Swings Lightly.

What makes a “perfect” concert?

Everything goes well on the stage, all musicians, team members and the people in the audience are feeling well, and the musicians impress and captivate the audience with their music.

Biography

For Olivia, it was always clear that she has to work in an artistic field. Born as the daughter of a caricaturist, she initially shifted between her interest in art that she was naturally surrounded with and her intuitive affection for music. In the end, the music won her over.

Growing up in Berlin, she started playing the flute and continued singing. She studied musicology and English, receiving further music lessons and participating in numerous ensembles. Although she felt very comfortable on the stage, she knew her place was behind it.

She discovered her passion to organize concerts and tours, working with musicians, and helping to bring music in front of audiences. To her work experience contributed stations like the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, BR Klassik, the Mahler Academy in Bolzano, and she was also running a Jazzclub in Berlin for some time.

She came to the Mahler Chamber Orchestra for the first time in March 2020 for an internship. She felt immediately in the right place so she happily returned again for a short period in 2021 before she commenced her position as a Project Assistant in October 2022.
