Una Tournee fortunata!

Daniele Gatti started the first afternoon rehearsal in Ferrara with welcome words and jokes, stating that he now would like to enjoy some music making together with Beethoven's music...

We all had a smile on our face and he started working on Beethoven. Wow, and what kind of work he did! Very detailed, demanding, profiled shaping of numerous aspects of Beethoven's symphonic music. This first bit of our Gatti/Beethoven Cycle included Symphonies 1, 2 & 5 and brought us from our start in Ferrara to Pavia, Torino and Cremona.

I very much liked Gatti's profound knowledge of sound and articulation and his demand for a wide range of emotional moods throughout Beethoven's music. - Very challenging and very enriching!

First concert in Ferrara was in Memory of Claudio's first 'Todestag' and therefore very special and touching for all of us I believe! This was underlined by Daniele Gatti when he said, after the final applause, to the audience and looking upward: "...Grazie Claudio per aver' creato quest(o)' orchestra!...". This actually said in a few words what we probably all had felt throughout the Beethoven concert. In that very concert or maybe in all of the concerts?!

Was it Torino (Lingotto), Pavia or Cremona  after all? - I couldn't really tell which one of them i liked 'the most' because there were marvellous aspects in each one of our performances! Furthermore, all of these cities with their beautiful theatres had numerous aspects to offer - like a colourful kaleidoscope!

At this point I only would like to say:

'THANK YOU MAESTRO! - Ci vediamo a maggio per la seconda parte!'
