Port Klezmer

November 2015

A special history connects the MCO to Landshut: the orchestra’s founding concert was played here at the Rathausprunksaal in 1997, and an association was established in Landshut to support the young orchestra’s activities.

Since then, the orchestra has returned regularly to its founding residence for concerts and rehearsal periods. The Förderverein Mahler-Chamber-Orchestra Landshut e.V. and the city itself support the MCO and its performances in Landshut in the series “Freunde der Musik”.

Over the last 18 years, many important concerts have taken place in the snowy Bavarian city, including concerts with MCO Conductor Laureate Daniel Harding; the first collaboration between the MCO and its current Artistic Partner Teodor Currentzis; and an episode of the Beethoven Journey with Leif Ove Andsnes.

This November’s visit to Landshut brings a chamber music performance by Port Klezmer, the klezmer ensemble that grew from within the MCO on the initiative of clarinet player Jaan Bossier.
