ABOUT THIS CONCERT

Broadcast Dates:
Live Broadcast on Radio Romania Music
Live Broadcast on the George Enescu Festival website

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra makes its Romanian debut with two programmes showcasing its agility in traversing the worlds of orchestral and chamber music repertoire.

The MCO appears in Romania at the invitation of the George Enescu Festival, which has been celebrating the works of its namesake, the renowned composer George Enescu, as well as that of his Romanian colleagues, since 1958.

On this tour, the MCO joins forces with violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja in an ongoing exploration of musical traditions from central Europe, which began in August 2017 at the Lucerne Festival and will continue to take on various forms this season.

In this chamber music concert taking place in the Palace Small Hall, Patricia Kopatchinskaja is joined by her regular duo partner, the pianist Polina Leschenko, as well as musicians of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra for a programme featuring works by György Ligeti, Iannis Xenakis, György Kurtág and George Enescu.
