ABOUT THIS CONCERT

This tour marks the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s exciting debut with pianist Daniil Trifonov. In this programme, Frédéric Chopin’s piano concertos – in the version by Mikhail Pletnev, who will be conducting – are complemented by Mieczysław Karłowicz’s Serenade for Strings. While all three pieces were written during the composers’ studies, they played an important part in ensuring Chopin’s and Karłowicz’s place among the most important composers in Polish history.

Torino’s Lingotto Musica is one of the MCO’s closest partners in Italy. The MCO’s most recent appearance in Torino was in May 2016 with Artistic Advisor Daniele Gatti, on a tour concluding their Beethoven symphonic cycle.
