ABOUT THIS CONCERT
This tour marks the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s exciting debut with pianist Daniil Trifonov. In this programme, Frédéric Chopin’s piano concertos – in the version by Mikhail Pletnev, who will be conducting – are complemented by Mieczysław Karłowicz’s Serenade for Strings. While all three pieces were written during the composers’ studies, they played an important part in ensuring Chopin’s and Karłowicz’s place among the most important composers in Polish history.
The MCO enjoys a very close working relationship with Konzerthaus Dortmund, to which the MCO has regularly returned throughout the years. The MCO’s most recent appearance in Dortmund was in November 2016 with Artistic Partner Mitsuko Uchida.
